A bit about me:
I studied illustration at Edinburgh College of Art. I draw everything by hand with pen, ink and watercolour before finishing with a digital tweak. I create lively and engaging illustrations for editorial, advertising and books. My work is original, full of character and can be applied to fun and lighthearted projects as well as more conceptual, thoughtful briefs.
Co-creator of comic Sam Jamwitch (it's about a witch made of jam who lives in a house of toast).
I like scotch eggs a bit too much. Guilty of a pun or two. I do not like milky tea. I have two small children/ bullies. I live and work in Bristol. Say hello! kate@katehazell.com

What they say about me:
“Kate’s illustrations gave the front section of BBC World Histories magazine its own distinct character. She provided striking, quirky and original illustrations for a wide range of topics, in a tight timeframe. We liked her flexibility, lightness of touch and thoughtful approach. It was a great pleasure working with her!”
Susanne Frank- Art Editor BBC History magazine
“The team looked at various illustrators, but one stood out. The work of Kate Hazell was ideal—her style is fun, and clear, almost doodle-like, a perfect fit for the writing.”
Mike Turner- Art Director Prospect magazine. They even wrote a blog about it: www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/behind-the-scenes-a-new-lease-on-life
